BLACK MOUNTAIN KENNEL CLUB
SHOW REPORT FOR 2010
October 15, 2010 – October 17, 2010
There were three specialty clubs giving shows on
Friday, October 15, 2010 as listed:
Cocker Spaniel Club of Las Vegas: 1 specialty
Irish Setter Club of Las Vegas: 2 specialties
Shetland Sheepdog Club of Southern Nevada: 2
specialties
Black Mountain Kennel Club had its third annual
Breeders Showcase at 6:00 P.M. on Friday, October 15, 2020. There were 64 dogs
entered. The Best in Showcase winner was a Miniature Schnauzer.
Total dogs entered in the all-breed show on
Saturday, October 16, 2010 was 735.
Total dogs entered in the all-breed show on
Sunday, October 16, 2020 was 709.
The shows in 2010 drew less entries than in 2009
primarily because of several National Specialties that fell on the same dates as
the Black Mountain Show. There were also three other shows in California, Idaho,
and New Mexico that impacted our entries. The economy has also had an effect on
the number of entries overall – almost all of the all-breed clubs have been
negatively impacted in 2010.
There were 6 vendors, 8 box vans, and
approximately 60 motor homes (40 reserved and 20 or so did not make
reservations). There were 34 reserved grooming spaces with 12 “no shows”. The
mall parking lot used by the motor homes was left in excellent condition as were
all the sites in the back of the conference center. The catering elevator in the
back of the conference center that took exhibitors into the conference center
was heavily used and greatly appreciated by those who had to haul crates and
cages up and down.
The continental breakfast and buffet lunch set out
on Saturday for the exhibitors was well attended and greatly appreciated. The
judges’ luncheons at GP’S Steakhouse on both Saturday and Sunday were well
received. The Steakhouse was quiet and calm after the hustle and bustle of the
show and all attending were able to relax and enjoy their meal. Quite a few of
the exhibitors ate dinner at GP’S on Saturday night also.
The 2010 show was successful - BLACK MOUNTAIN
KENNEL CLUB WILL AGAIN HOLD THE 2011 ALL-BREED AND SPECIALTY SHOWS AT PRIMM,
NEVADA.
